Mar 26, Posts: Vortex 2 reference drivers Check the Frequently Asked Questions if you don’t know which chipset your sound card uses. A lot of people have gotten the Windows beta drivers to work. You could tell where someone was by sound alone, to the point I could put a grenade where they were going to be just by sound.
Aureal A3D Central – Drivers
I now use an Audigy 2 ZS. With EAX, you played like your head was in a giant aurral can, lots and lots and lots of muffled echo.

I did this back in the Win2k days Turtle Beach Montego with digital or optical add-on boards. I upgraded to a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, but to be honest.
What really bites is that there’s no support for Aureal chipsets in Vista. I may also test it in 98SE sometime soon.

EAX sounded like a few canned effects that would just switch on and off.
It’s a wonderful soundcard, but it doesn’t do A3D v2. May 14, Posts: Oct 25, Posts: Have you played Doom 3 or Prey with this card?
I loved that card, it sounded way better than the SB.
Half life is the game to demonstrate it, under windows There’s forums out there where people talk about doing that. You could hear the sound texture of someone walking over the metal grating, how fast they were going and what direction.
In windows xp it installed the driver automatically, it shows that the drivers are installed but i get no sound ill get a pop and sound like it wants play logging off sound but it cuts out fast.
I looked everywhere for drivers and they were all for win2k or Windows 98 wow. I actually did quite a bit of testing with various IRQs assigned to the card.
Also though Creative’s near monopoly in add-in sound cards helped, Aureal was in trouble long before it went head to head with Creative in the gaming market.
